Wapsi
Most of our fly‑tying materials carry the Wapsi name, though we intentionally keep our branding subtle so the fly shop’s name can take center stage. “If you see a label like the ones below, you can trust it is a Wapsi product.” Our mission is simple: deliver high‑quality, high‑value materials while supporting the fly shops that keep fly‑tying and fly‑fishing thriving.
Ultra Thread Company (UTC)
Introduced in 1998, Ultra Thread was the first thread engineered specifically for fly-tying, not adapted from sewing or textile use. It's consistency, strength, and color range have made it a staple for tiers around the world.
SLF (SYNTHETIC LIVING FIBER)
SLF dubbing is a synthetic matierial known for its lifelike translucency, sparkle, and ability to mimic natural insects. Developed by Davy Wotton as a substitute for seal fur, SLF quickly became a favorite among tyers. Wapsi acquired SLF in the 1980's and expanded the line with blends created in collaboration with legendary tyers such a Dave Whitlock, Randall Kauffman, and Poul Jorgensen. Today we offer nine SLF blends, with some blends available in up to 52 colors.
Terra
Acquired in the 1990s, Terra represents our line of high-quality, high-value fly-tying tools and vises manufactured in India and Pakistan. Over decades of collaboration with our partner factories, we've continuallly refined and improved the Terra lineup.
Lightning Strike Hooks & Streamside Tools & Indicators
Originally introduced as a streamside-tool brand, Lightning Strike expanded in 2005 to include value-priced, high-quality carbon-steel hooks made in Japan. Unlike many distributors, all Lightning Strike hooks are produced start-to-finish in a single factory, ensuring exceptional consistency and quality.
Lightning Strike Streamside Tools & Indicators include floatants, tools, and a comprehensive selection of strike indicators. Today, Wapsi offers the largest and most complete assortment of strike indicators available anywhere.
Killer Caddis Glass Beads
Killer Caddis beads are the highest-quality Japanese glass beads available, known for their uniformity, precision, and vibrant color selection. Offered in five sizes and 40 colors, they are widely regarded as "the beads of choice among serious fly-tyers."
Fly Furniture
Fly Furniture is our line of USA‑made wooden fly‑tying accessories designed to elevate the tying experience. The collection includes benches, organizers, fly dryers, and material storage solutions, all crafted with durability and functionality in mind.
Angler's Image
Purchased in 1990, Anglers Image began as a maker of high-quality Japanese line clippers. Over time, the brand expanded to include a full range of streamside tools and accessories, eventually growing large enough to merit its own dedicated catalog.
Palsa
Added to our portfolio in 2018, Palsa indicators are the original adhesive stick‑on strike indicators. Their small size and ultra‑light foam construction allow them to land softly and fish with stealth — a key reason many anglers consider them their favorite indicator.
Skip’s Original Turn‑On Strike Indicators (TOSI)
Also acquired in 2018, Skip’s Original Turn‑On Indicators, often called TOSI’s, were the first strike indicators to receive a U.S. patent for their innovative design. The line now includes Skip Halterman’s latest creation, the Jerk Alert Indicator.
Twistons
In 2010, Wapsi acquired the rights to produce Twistons, preserving a classic product that has been a staple in anglers’ vests since the 1950s. Twistons are lead strips packaged in a
matchbook, valued for being easy to use, adjustable, and reusable.
